Great Ocean Road’s Best Bits with Lakey & Molly
Only a 1.5 hour drive from Melbourne is The Great Ocean Road, home to one of the world’s most scenic drives, iconic beaches, beautiful rainforests, coastal towns and the longest running surf competition in the world, Rip Curl Pro, Bells Beach.
It’s a special place for professional surfers, Molly Picklum and Lakey Peterson who take us to some of their favourite places that are…a bit different, starting with a morning surf at Bells Beach, a pitstop and refuel feed at Mortadeli before checking in at the retro-inspired Sunnymead Hotel for a spa treatment and stay.

The just the usual bit | Melbourne. Every Bit Different

This is the bit where we go right back to our roots, with one of Melbourne’s most iconic restaurants, Pellegrini’s. This is as classic as classic Italian gets. It’s been open for more than 50 years and has never had a liquor licence which should tell you something. This place is all about the deliciously homestyle Italian food (oh, and the coffee, you must try the coffee). Some people even say ...

This is the bit where we bust out the superlatives to talk about why Melbourne’s a must for any serious foodie. It’s decadent, extravagant, edgy, chic, innovative and delicious, sometimes all on the same plate, making any meal here one you’ll never forget. So, loosen your belt and strap yourself in. Melbourne. Every bit different. Feed me: bit.ly/3P6pVpe

"From here we head over the border into Italy, or King Valley as we like to call it. This little hidden corner of the state also happens to be one of our oldest gourmet regions. Thanks in no small part to the Italian immigrant families who settled here generations ago and brought with them their love of good food, good wine and generous hospitality. They also happened to bring with them Austral...

This is the bit that really gets our creative juices flowing - art, darling! We simply love it! Challenging, thought provoking, controversial, perplexing, confusing, infuriating, stomach churning, haunting, brilliant, sad, dark, mind-twisting… but never boring, you’ll find it all right here. The soaked, but so what bit | Victoria. Every Bit Different

This is the bit where we head out and hit the open road and into the loving embrace of Mother Nature. Only 30 minutes from the city you could find yourself deep in the primordial landscape of the Black Spur Drive. Then, a little further down the way you’ll find one of the state’s most beloved national parks, Wilsons Promontory. Or, if you take a turn in the other direction, maybe you’ll find yo...

This is the bit where we plug in and turn up the volume to do a little humble bragging about our live music scene. No matter what you’re into you’ll find it here, that’s because, from the city centre to the suburbs, venues big and small provide the incubators that develop some of Australia’s most exciting new talent. Iconic places like Cherry Bar, The Tote, The Corner and The Espy. But that’s j...

This is the bit where we take a sharp turn off the beaten track and head deep, deep into the vibrant, ever-changing heart of Melbourne. As a disabled folk I do appreciate the thought given to something as simple as including the person in a wheelchair at the end of the video. Perhaps including an outdoor shot in the next video would be good- sometimes the most frustrating thing about having mobility issues is the sense of being delegated to being indoors. Again, thanks for the inclusion!
